Hinde House

Full excavation of 14,000sqft basement in prime real estate area of Marylebone

Contractor on the Hinde House project, the conversion of an imposing art deco detailed building on Thayer Street, Marylebone, London.

Responsible for the excavation of an old basement area with low ceilings, creating a new area with twelve foot high ceilings, delivered as a shell ready for fit-out.

The project was challenging, involving the propping of a five storey building and disposal of earth by hand to limit noise disruption to residents.

We stabilised the structure and underpinned it before the excavation, continuously monitoring any potential movement via GPS and satellite receivers mounted on the building.

The space was dug out to be turned into five retail outlets, including a restaurant, bridal shop and gallery for Damien Hirst.
